Therapy with Daniel Crooks LPC-Associate in Austin Tx
Hello!Daniel offers person-centered, trauma-informed therapy for teens and adults navigating religious trauma, grief and loss, addiction recovery, relationship challenges, and life transitions, meeting you with compassionate presence as you reconnect with safety, clarity, and your deeper self.
You might be here because…
Part of you still feels tangled up in religious messages; shame, fear, or “I’m broken”, and you want a place to sort out what happened and come back to yourself.
You’re grieving (a person, a relationship, a season of life, or who you thought you’d be), and you’re tired of trying to “be okay” when you’re not.
Substances or relationship patterns have started to feel like the only way to cope, and you’re ready for steadier support, someone to help you build safety, honesty, and real change.
How I work
I work from a person-centered, trauma-informed approach, meaning we’ll move at your pace and focus on building real safety, trust, and connection in the room or outdoors. I’ll meet you with steady compassion and collaboration as we explore what’s feeling stuck or out of place, whether that’s grief and loss, religious trauma, relationship patterns, addiction recovery, or a major life transition. I don’t see you as broken. I’m interested in the ways your mind and body have adapted, and what might help you feel more grounded, clear, and connected to yourself.
Alongside talk therapy, I often integrate experiential practices to help you access what’s harder to put into words. Depending on your needs and preferences, that might include sandtray for deeper inner exploration, walk and talk therapy to support nervous-system regulation and movement through stuckness, and other experiential ways of working that invite insight and healing. We’ll choose what fits gently and intentionally so therapy feels both supportive and meaningful over time.

About Daniel
Supervised by: Eva Escobedo, LPC-S
Hi, my name is Daniel Crooks and I am an LPC-Associate. I received my Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Seminary of the Southwest in Austin, Texas, following a Master’s in Psychology from Grand Canyon University.
With myself and with my clients, I have seen how healing can occur through the felt sense of safety and relational presence. By creating a safe place where judgment and shame can be met with compassion, beautiful and deep work can happen. By cultivating relational presence through connecting with our true self and others, we are able to have a more cohesive experience in our daily lives. I believe that “others” also includes nature, and reconnecting with the Earth is an intentional act that can do wonders for our brains, our nervous systems, and our bodies. I try to incorporate this, as well as poetry, parts work, and neuroscience into how I show up as a therapist.
